Maria and Nick's wedding

Our penultimate wedding of the year was the very special wedding of Maria and Nick. We met with Maria and have formed such a great friendship with her and have loved every minute of working with such a lovely lady.

Maria and Nick chose the ancient venue of Battle Abbey School, a place we have always driven past but never been to and so really enjoyed meeting Maria and her mum there one day to take a look around and get the feel of the place to ensure the flowers would fit perfectly!

The colour scheme for the wedding was a dark burgundy, purple red with ivory to lighten the overall look.

Maria chose the most beautiful dress, and to enhance it we created a teardrop bouquet of Black Baccara Roses studded with diamantes and deep burgundy purple Calla Lilies. We lightened the bouquet with dusky white Eryngium thistle (so gorgeous in the winter time!) and red Skimmia berries. Bear grass loops and seasonal foliages finished the design along with a cream ribbon handle.

Maria had two adult bridesmaids and four flower girls. We made two hand tied bouquets for the adult bridesmaids with cream Avalanche Roses, burgundy purple Calla Lilies, ivory Hypericum berries with bear grass loops and seasonal foliages again finished with cream ribbon and pearl detailing.

For the little flower girls we provided baskets of Rose petals to be scattered down the aisle (or hopefully as many down the aisle as possible!).

For Nick we made an extra special buttonhole of an Avalanche Rose with ivory Hypericum berries and Larch cone with seasonal foliage.

For Nick's groomsmen we created Avalanche Rose buttonholes with seasonal foliages.

For the Mum's and Nan's we made ivory Calla Lily corsages with seasonal foliages and magnets to attach.

To welcome the guests and the bridal party into Battle Abbey School we flanked the porch with two Bay trees dressed in the wedding colour theme and twinkling fairy lights.

The ceremony was to be held in the grand hall that has a magnificent painting that covers the entire wall depicting the Battle of Hastings. We made a long and low arrangement for the registrar's table complete with battery operated candles to give a wintery feel (the venue doesn't allow real candles). We also made two floor standing candelabra arrangements to flank the registrar's table again with battery operated candles. We used Black Baccara Roses, double white Lisianthus, dusky white Eryngium thistle, seasonal foliages with frosted white Asparagus fern and Larch cones.

For the wedding breakfast held in the library, Maria wanted to continue the candlelight feel but to keep the reception intimate so we recommended hurricane lamp arrangements that both incorporate candles but allow guests to talk to each other easily across the table. Again we used Black Baccara Roses, double white Lisianthus, dusky white Eryngium thistle, ivory Hypericum berries, seasonal foliages with frosted white Asparagus fern and Larch cones.

We have already seen a sneak peak at Maria and Nick's wedding video which we love! Can't wait to see the professional pictures!

We wish Maria and Nick many congratulations!
